Cats, vets, flowers and best friends
This is actually day two of my vacation time. Yesterday I did pretty much nothing. I had to take one of my cats, Claude, to the vet. He had a huge gaping wound on his neck. About a week ago Claude, who is normally isolated, snuck out of his room and was attacked. I noticed blood under his chin and checked him out but wasn't able to see anything. I cleaned him up and let him be. Now Claude is allowed out of his room every so often to roam. Well, apparently his neck was wounded and absessed. Normally I spot this sort of thing and deal with absesses on my own. This one got away from me and burst before I knew it was there. I cleaned it up and it didn't look great but not too bad. I trimmed hair and applied antibiotic cream. The next day it looked a lot worse, the wounds opened up considerably, I could actually see muscle. So off to the vet. They cleaned it out and put a few stitches to lightly hold it together but to still allow it to drain. I need to go and pick him up today. I hate to think what this is going to cost. At least they didn't have to sedate him to work on him, he was a very good boy and cooperative.
My friend Diana e-mailed me to say she has a ton of plants for me to come and get. They are remodeling their front entrance and had to remove a few gardens. She has beautiful gardens and loads of perennials that she is giving me. So, I'mm off to her house today to get those. Unfortunately it is snowing, although lightly, but it is too cold to work in the garden.
My phone rang this morning and it was my best friend who is up here at her cabin for the weekend. Her daughter is the most wonderful child and she wants to spend the summer up here working. Cait, her daughter, is applying for jobs. They are coming over this afternoon so we can spend some time together.
I'm off to shower and feed horses and chickens. Enjoy your day!
